Aquagenx published a new technical brief that explains the differences between Presence/Absence (PA) and quantitative water quality tests for E. coli. It also outlines which applications and scenarios are best suited for PA and quantitative tests.

PA tests provide “yes” or “no” – present or absent – test results. Quantitative tests generate measurable data primarily through two testing methods – Colony Forming Units (CFU) and Most Probable Number (MPN).
